In the "Nick" of time...

So, the weekend was GREAT! I did everything in the nick of time...I felt like Santa! LoL! Friday, got paid, went shopping, and while I did laundry I wrapped presents. Almost had a Secret Santa mishap, but was able to avert it (Thank You God!). Then went grocery shopping. The kids were running late, but it was ok. Gave me time to finish wrapping present that were at the house and do my hair (which is now brown with light-ash-brown highlights). Attempted to go to a Christmas party, but the hostess was sick and had to cancel (praying she gets better soon!) So we went caroling in the car while we looked for Christmas lights and such on the way back to my house. Woke up Saturday and the kids got their stockings. They loved the gifts! :~) Then we tried to start cooking for our big Christmas dinner party that night. I put the turkey in the oven and needed to run down to the store for a few last min. items...I had a flat tire! Good thing though, 'cause about the time I figured on what to do about that the oven coil ignited. Oh yes we had a very exciting time! So I turned off the oven. Called my sweet Landlord, who came right over, and fixed the oven. Then aired up my tire so I could make it to the tire shop; he followed me all the way there, then made sure I was able (financially) to handle the bill (How sweet is he! I gave him and his wife a candle for Christmas...I'll explain later!) I made arrangements with my preacher to borrow a table and chairs (so everyone would have a place to sit) from the church. Our appointment was late afternoon (about 2 hrs. after we had talked)...so I took the kids to a local Christmas display to play and such while we waited. Not such a good idea...they used hay to decorate...I'm allergic to hay...the kids rolled around in the hay...my eyes were almost swelled shut...LoL...but it was fun! Then I remember the turkey! So I ran and got Mama early to run her back to my house to start the turkey and all...while I met with the preacher. Got back to the house to finish up everything. Was getting out of the shower when the Taylor's arrived...had a few finishing touches then we ate. We had so much food that we almost didn't have room to eat LoL! It was Wonderful! We exchanged gifts, then ate dessert, sat and chatted a while then they left and I took Mom home. Again the kids and I went light hunting on the way home. Didn't even bother cleaning up just went to bed... Then we got up and went to church (my oldest was under the weather so I took her on home). Had plans to go back to church that night, but lost my other contact (wearing soft ones in both eyes now) can't drive at night. If it ain't one thing; it's another!



I wrote this poem because I know a few couples, who I will be giving a candle and holder to for Christmas; and I wanted to express a sentiment of love and union relating to a candle and it's holder...I couldn't find anything online that did my feelings justice so I wrote this poem... Feel free to use this idea for any couples you know this holiday season. The candle and holder can be cheap or extravagant. And Merry Christmas!

The holder holds the candle; the candle holds the flame

May your love for one another be much and of the same

Supporting one another; feeding love’s gentle glow

Things such as this the candle and its holder also know

You can have one with out the other, but it is always best

To have the candle and its holder for the flame to safely rest

Neither the candle nor its holder confines the light dancing above

So should your union be, a light to others – of your supporting love
